Art Talk with the collectors behind "Humboldt Collects" at MGMA
ART TALK WITH THE COLLECTORS BEHIND “HUMBOLDT COLLECTS!

Collectors who have shared their personal collections for the community
exhibition "Humboldt Collects!" will speak about their treasured items
and the stories behind them at Art Talk at the Morris Graves Museum of
Art on Sunday, March 5th at 2:00pm.
Among the collectors presenting will be Bob Doran, who submitted a
collection called the "Box of Frozen Time". This collection is made up
of photographs Doran has found at thrift stores and yard sales. "These
lost photos just intrigued me," says Doran. "They're memories that were
lost in the never-ending flow of images, then rescued, most randomly, so
these people live again."
Ruth Sturtevant will also speak on her collection of glass marbles. "I
started collecting marbles accidentally," she explains in her artist
statement. "There is a group that hides marbles, in a treasure hunt sort
of way, so I joined. Before I knew it, I was buying more than I was
The presentation will feature talks from several other collectors whose
personal collections are on view in this lively, eclectic community show
as well. Come learn about the wacky and wonderful collections we have in
