ADMISSION PRICE: $5 adults, $2 seniors/students/military, FREE for

Collectors who have shared their personal collections for the community

exhibition "Humboldt Collects!" will speak about their treasured items

and the stories behind them at Art Talk at the Morris Graves Museum of

Art on Sunday, March 5th at 2:00pm.

Among the collectors presenting will be Bob Doran, who submitted a

collection called the "Box of Frozen Time". This collection is made up

of photographs Doran has found at thrift stores and yard sales. "These

lost photos just intrigued me," says Doran. "They're memories that were

lost in the never-ending flow of images, then rescued, most randomly, so

these people live again."

Ruth Sturtevant will also speak on her collection of glass marbles. "I

started collecting marbles accidentally," she explains in her artist

statement. "There is a group that hides marbles, in a treasure hunt sort

of way, so I joined. Before I knew it, I was buying more than I was

hiding!"

The presentation will feature talks from several other collectors whose

personal collections are on view in this lively, eclectic community show

as well. Come learn about the wacky and wonderful collections we have in

Humboldt County at this session of Art Talk! Visit the Morris Graves

Museum of Art on Sunday, March 5th at 2:00pm to hear these funny stories

and inspiring histories.
