BRENDA TUXFORD GALLERY at Ink People 525 Seventh St.  “Kamisu Art Exchange”, as part of the Kamisu, Japan delegation’s visit to Eureka, artists from both Cities will have their art on display with a month long art exchange. An Artists’ reception kicks off the Horai Center DreamMaker Project of the Ink People and City of Eureka welcome. The Art Exchange is part of the Kamisu Japan & Eureka Sister City Tree Planting and Art Exchange. In honor of the delegation’s visit ten Japanese Cherry Blossom trees will be planted in Kamisu Park, at the corner of Q Street and 4th Street (Redwood Highway). The tenth tree will be planted during a ceremony on February 5th at 11 a.m.

REDWOOD CURTAIN 220 First St. Theatre Lobby Gallery Freshwater teacher Kylah Rush's sixth-grade class spent the month of January learning about ancient Egypt. The students learn science, history, art, writing and even math through the lens of the ancient Egyptians. The unit culminates in the students mummifying chickens and making personalized death shroud masks in the style of the ancient mummified pharaohs.
