Join us at the Morris Graves Museum of Art on September 3rd at 2:00pm for an opportunity to engage with Carla Baku as she discusses her book, Chasing Down the Moon, which is based on the historical events surrounding the expulsion of the Chinese from Eureka in 1885. The novel reimagines the events surrounding the expulsion via the experiences of its characters—both those purely built in the imagination and those drawn on real-life persons living in Eureka at the time.
Applicable to current events, Chasing Down the Moon explores strong universal themes that continue to be relevant in the world, such as; human trafficking, fear of otherness, the oppression of women, and the rhetoric of hatred towards immigrants.
The novel is available for purchase at Booklegger and at Eureka Books in Old Town. It’s also available in paperback or eBook format on Amazon. Baku will have a few copies for sale and will be signing books at the end of this event.
