Don’t miss Arts Alive! at the Morris Graves Museum of Art on Saturday, January 4th from 6:00-9:00pm and experience music by Blue Lotus Jazz, a jazz guitar duo consisting of Dave Wilson and Nalini Cogswell.
This pair prefers to explore the romantic side of jazz… Their vision is to play exceptional jazz, but most importantly, to have fun while making music! Playing throughout Humboldt County for 12 years, Blue Lotus Jazz performs about 150 gigs a year at venues such as Larrapin Café (every Friday night!), Arts Alive and Arts Arcata locations as well as many private functions.

Dave plays a 7 string guitar to enhance the duo’s guitar sound. This adds a bass dimension to the pair’s auditory aesthetic, which combined with Nalini's guitar and vocals, allows the duo to create a surprisingly full range of sound. Dave has been a professional musician and teacher for over 40 years.

Make sure to visit each of the galleries while you’re in the museum Saturday night too! Lay eyes on our newly installed exhibitions, Collecting: 20 Years, and Gifts of Art, exhibitions celebrating the museums 20 year history of collecting, and our continuing exhibition, Through Humboldt Fog: Atmospheric Watercolors of the North Coast Landscape by the Humboldt Open Air Watercolor Painters! And don’t forget to stop by the Humboldt Artist Gallery to visit with local artist, Jody Bryan, whose work will be highlighted in the gallery throughout the month of January…
